iCatch Attend Automotive World 2020 to Exhibit Intelligent Image Processing SoC for Car Imaging Application

iCatch Technology, a global leader in low-power and intelligent image processing SoC solutions, will participate in the Automotive World held from January 15th to 17th, 2020 in Tokyo, Japan. iCatch will present the car recording image processing system chip CR1 and the intelligent image signal processor chips Ci1/Ci3 for automotive applications. The demonstration will include ultra-high dynamic range imaging, in-cabin monitoring, intelligent rear view camera, multi-channel AI dash camera, and camera monitoring system

iCatch’s CR1 (Car Recording) series is designed for dash cameras. It builds in a high-performance image processing (ISP) engine to support single or dual-sensor inputs, high dynamic range (HDR) processing, and lens distortion correction (LDC). Even in the tunnels or in case of backlighting, CR1 can produce high-quality images easily. It also embeds an H.264 encoder to support 4Kp30 single channel or 1440p30 dual channel video recording. In addition, CR1 has incorporated a state-of-the-art neural processing unit (NPU) to empower the edge computing capability right on the camera for vehicle detection (VD), pedestrian detection (PD), driver monitoring system (DMS), and other similar functions. These features make CR1 very suitable for dashboard camera, intelligent rear-view camera (RVC), driver and in-cabin monitoring camera, and other intelligent automotive recording applications.

The Ci1 (Car Imaging) series is an intelligent image signal processor (ISP) solution that is dedicated to automotive camera module applications. It integrates a number of high-quality image processing blocks to support high dynamic range (HDR) processing, fisheye lens de-warping, and motion compensated video noise filtering in automotive environments. The Ci1 chip also embeds a neural processing unit (NPU) to enable edge intelligence in camera module for reducing the computational burden of the electronic control unit (ECU). This NPU block, while executing different neural networking algorithms, can help the camera module to detect objects, such as pedestrians, vehicles, cyclists, lane marks, and traffic signs when the vehicle is moving on the road. These features can empower the automotive camera module with intelligence to achieve VD, PD, and BSD functions.

The iCatch Ci3 is a state-of-the-art automotive ISP chip that is designed to be put in the camera module. By supporting 1080p60 video frame rate, the latest color filter array (RCCC/RCCB/RGBIR), ultra-high dynamic range (up to 144dB), LED flicker mitigation, de-warping engine (lens distortion correction and view point adjustment) and emphasizing on small form factor and low-power, Ci3 can fit into an automotive camera modules for various imaging systems, including camera monitoring system (CMS), driver monitoring systems (DMS), occupant monitoring system (OMS), surround view monitoring (SVM), blind spot detection (BSD), rear view camera (RVC) and ADAS.

iCatch has been actively approaching the automotive Imaging market in the recent years. For automotive imaging applications, CR1 and Ci1/Ci3 have integrated powerful image processor and advanced edge computing capabilities to provide the best image quality for drivers’ viewing and to achieve ADAS applications in the module. For example, the RVC and blind spot detection system can help driver to monitor the rear of the vehicle or the blind spot when driving on the road, and automatically warn the driver when the vehicle is too close to an object. When the vehicle deviates from the lane line, approaches pedestrians, or is too close to the preceding vehicle during high-speed driving, such warning system can immediately alert the driver of these hazardous road conditions. In-cabin monitoring system can detect driver status and monitor whether there are other passengers in car. Drivers will also be alerted if the driver is in a state of possible drowsiness, using mobile phone, or smoking, etc. CR1 and Ci3 are both compliant to AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualification and meet the strict quality requirements of the automotive industry for product reliability. CR1 and Ci1/Ci3 are high-performance and cost effective automotive imaging platforms that customers can use them for other intelligent imaging applications as well. We are pleased to welcome you to visit our booth A14-12 at Automotive World 2020.
